Mayoral Experience and Other Service:
1.
Financial Leadership :
- Strong Leadership skills
and case presentation to state regulators resulted
in saving $300,000 of Parkville taxpayer’s money
regarding environmental wastewater plant facility
upgrades.
- Tackled the tough issue of
a new building for City Hall and keeping within
budgetary limits.
- Sold the old city hall and
brought the Platte County Health Department into
Parkville.
- Presented "early Council
review" of the annual operating budget.
- Instituted the City’s
first 5-year Capital Improvement Plan/5-year

Environmental
Impact :
- Worked with the Corp of
Engineers to solve the erosion problems of Rush
Creek.
- Worked with volunteers to
start a new recycling program in Parkville.
- Serves as Missouri
Chairperson for Air Quality Committee for MARC.

3. Safety
Issues Leadership:
- Worked with MoDot and MARC
to support Missouri 45 Hwy Improvements and Trail
System.
- Worked with FEMA and SEMA
during the spring flood of 2007.
- Working with the Missouri
Department of Conservation for a new boat ramp,
trail head, soccer fields and parking for English
Landing Park.

Cooperative
Venues :
- Organized the aid to Ocean Springs, MS after
hurricane Katrina.
- Worked with the
Brown/Smalley families to develop the new Sullivan
Nature Sanctuary.
- Formed partnerships with
Park University and Platte County Parks to work
together to negotiate with BNSF.
- Created a Neighborhood
Coalition to reach out to every neighborhood of
Parkville.
- Encouraged community
spirit by implementing the Mayor’s Christmas Party
for Christmas on the River.
- Originated the idea for
the "Sponsor the Solider Program" with the Platte
County Mayor’s Council.
- Represents Platte County
on Mid-America’s Regional Council’s Total
Transportation Policy Committee and lobbies to allow
Parkville to have voting privileges on MARC’s STP/Bridge
Priorities Committee.
